The Lord Mayor of London helped to meet some of the expenses. The Committee offered prizes for foreign stock and produce, together with other prizes for sewage farms and market gardens. The site of this exhibition amounted to some 100 acres obtained from the Ecclesiastical Commissioners in the area of North London some 2 1/2miles from Marble Arch between the London and North Western and the North London Railway Lines. It is therefore perhaps appropriate that this unrecorded gold medal was awarded to the Swansea Waggon Company.
