Panama. Medal of Solidarity, 1917-1918. Bronze, 36mm. Liberty/Panama standing left inscribing a column supporting a burning altar, signed M. LORDONNOIS, rev. Eagle atop bannered Arms, 1917-1918 in wreath around. Although Panama played no active part in World War I, it did award this medal in solidarity to the Allies; Panama declared war on Germany on April 7, 1917. The medal was instituted 1918 and was awarded in three grades - Gold (Silver gilt) to commanders in chief; Silver with a rosette to generals and senior officers; and Bronze to officers and other ranks. One hundred medals, reportedly, were awarded to each of the Allied countries. On original ribbon. Extremely Fine and rare.
