James I (1603-25), third coinage, Laurel, 9.03g., fourth bust, large laureate bust left, tie ends form a bracket to value, rev. long cross fleury over crowned square shield, m.m. lis (c.f. Schneider 86; N.2114; S.2638C), a most attractive piece, a tiny edge nick at 1 o'clock, lightly double struck on reverse, otherwise on an exceptionally full round flan, with an excellent portrait, almost extremely fine, rare thus Estimate £ 1,250-1,500
