Henry I, Penny, 1.40g., type XI, London, Dereman, large crowned bust left, of unusual ('local') style, wearing robe and holding sceptre, trefoil and pair of annulets in field, henr in large crude lettering, rev. double inscription around cross pattée, outer inscription divided by four quatrefoils, of neat official style, der[.]man on lvnd (BMC 77 (same dies); N.867; S.1272), official edge snick, lightly double struck on reverse, otherwise very fine and clear, very rare Estimate £ 1,000-1,250
BMC 77, the only other example, is recorded as ('possibly') of the moneyer Lefwine. The obverse die is of very unusual and derivative style
