Sjöqvist (1960), lists only four series of coins of The Sikeliotes, one in gold (Head of Kore / biga) and three in silver (head of Kore / biga, head of Kore / quadriga, and head of Zeus / horseman). All these series have as a common feature the inscription ÓikeËiÙtan and the "enigmatic" monogram iÓ.
This very rare issue belongs to a different series, and the types are borrowed from the contemporary coinage of Hieron II and Hieronymos.
