A Victorian Lieutenant Colonel's Uniform An extremely unusual scarlet Full Dress tunic, pre-1881, as described in Dress Regulations for Officers on the Unattached List, with blue facings and white piping, gold "Vellum" lace on collar and cuffs, the cuffs edged with a triple row of lace forming a point, traced on the lower edge with gold Russia braid eyes and crow's foot, plain gold cord loops on shoulders, massive crown in silver embroidery on ends of collar, but with gilt buttons of the Coldstream Guards pattern to front and waist-seam, those in front placed in pairs, and Black Watch buttons to shoulder-cords, black armband on left sleeve See illustration Estimate £ 80-100 The buttons prescribed in Dress Regulations for officers on the Unattached List were scallop-edged, with a Crown in the centre. An example of a special pattern waistbelt-clasp for Unattached Officers of the Coldstream Guards, is also believed to exist.
