†Military Cross, G.V.R., reverse engraved 'Lieut. B.O. Hooper 19th Btn. C.E.F. 1916', good very fine Estimate £ 400-450 M.C. London Gazette 15.3.1916 Lieutenant Bertram Osmer Hooper, 19th Canadian Infantry Battalion 'For conspicuous conduct when on reconnaisance. Lieutenant Hooper, with four men. remained in the enemy trench till he had made a careful reconnaissance of the adjacent trenches, thereby gaining much valuable information.' Hooper was also awarded the D.S.O. (London Gazette 11.1.1919), and rose to Colonel.
