A Set of Officer's Belt Fittings of the Scottish Rifles A complete set of silver fittings (HM en suite Edinburgh 1881), comprising whistle and chain set, the whistle in its holder, the triple chain secured to a chain-boss of distinctive regimental pattern, bearing the Dragon and with battle-honours inscribed on radiating leaves, plate with Guelphic crown, suspension-loops and thistle flap-badge for pouch and rectangular waistbelt-plate (one thistle-leaf defective) and adjustment-buckle for waistbelt (lot) See illustration Note: The 1881 date on the hallmarks is highly significant, this being the year in which the Cameronians (26th Foot) amalgamated with the 90th (Perthshire Volunteers) Light Infantry and were converted to a Rifle regiment.
