†Charles I, Crown, 29.32g., Tower mint, group 2a, m.m. harp (over rose over plume on obverse), small figure of king crowned and in armour, resting sword on shoulder, on horseback left, plume on horse's head, cross on housing, rev. oval garnished shield on long cross fourchee, C R above (FRC X*/XVI; N.2193; S.2755), scratch in field behind king, otherwise a pleasing example with a well struck horseman, attractively toned with some lustre, good very fine Estimate £ 2,000-2,500 provenance: Lord Rodney-Smith, collection purchased by Spink, 1983 Herman Selig, Spink Auction 70, lot 80 Inveruglas collection, Noble Numismatics Sale No.48, 11 July 1995, lot 4443
