†Charles I (1625-49), Crown, 29.59g., Tower mint, group 1a, m.m. lis, king crowned and in armour with sword over his shoulder, on horseback left, the horse richly caparisoned and with plumes on its head and rump, rev. long cross fourchee over square garnished shield (FRC IV/IV; N.2190; S.2753), rather bright, good fine, the reverse better Estimate £ 500-600 FRC IV is a rather rare reverse die. It is also the only die with m.m. lis at the beginning, rather than the end, of the reverse legend.
