†Edward III, post-treaty period, Noble, 7.70g., London, group I, king standing facing in ship, holding sword and shield, edward de g rex ang z fra dns hyb z at, annulet before edward, rev. floriated cross with lis at ends, large E in centre supine, double saltire stops, treaty lettering, m.m. cross potent on reverse only (Schneider -; c.f. GVD 283 (same dies); N.1277; S.1516), an impressive full round coin, extremely fine, very rare Estimate £ 2,000-2,500 Group I post-treaty nobles have lettering of treaty style, with the French title FRA. They are scarce and on most the king's figure is also of pre-treaty style and there is a crescent on the forecastle, c.f. Schneider 107-8. This coin omits the crescent, and the king's figure prefigures the normal post-treaty style of group III, c.f. Schneider 112-4. It is an extremely rare type.
