LABUAN Pre-Stamp and Early Letters 1879 (13 Nov.) Straits Settlements 3c. blue postcard to Yorkshire, cancelled at Singapore with diamond of shaped dots and with Singapore Paid c.d.s. in red for 17 November in lower left corner; the message written by "Mrs. St. John, Borneo", presumably a relative of Spenser St. John, who spent many years in Labuan before he was transferred to Haiti as Consul-General, and later Resident Minister. Minor soiling though a rare and unusual usage of Straits stationery in Labuan. Photo Estimate S$ 2,000-2,500 Note: The use of a Straits Settlements postcard in Labuan seems to have been accepted, as were it's stamps, even though it was a separate Colony and was not yet part of the Straits Settlements
