Thailand Prisoner of War Mail The following seventeen lots are a correspondence between Private Binch and his parents or brother in Nottingham. Private Binch was in the R.A.O.C. and sent out to Singapore in March 1941, and was stationed there when Singapore fell on 15 February 1942. After being taken to Changi he then spent the next 31/2 years (February 1942 to August 1945) in northern Malaya and Thailand working on the notorious Burma Railway project through the jungle. On the journey up north he worked at various places including Chungkai, Tamakan and the River Kwai. Incoming Mail 1943 (15 Jan.) unstamped postcard addressed to Malaya c/o Japanese Red Cross, Tokyo, marked in manuscript "prisoner of war post/service des prisonniers de guerre", showing despatch and arrival Censor marks, and manuscript "31/10/44" arrival notation; a few minor corner creases Estimate S$ 200-250
