SUDAN Campaign Mail The Orde Correspondence The following twelve lots are from Captain R.C. Orde to his wife in England. He wrote the first letter soon after his arrival in Egypt and continued a fairly regular correspondence until he was back in Alexandria and due to leave for England, covering a period from October 1884 to August 1885. 1885 (9 May) OHMS envelope (small faults) with letter headed "Tani May 9th", marked "On active service, no stamps obtainable", showing legible small "dongola" c.d.s., boxed "T" and manuscript "5"; the letter gives details of the visit of Khasm El Moos and a sortie wit crocodiles.
