A 'Palestine' D.C.M., G.V.R., crowned head, (3852760 Cpl. A. Tansey 1. Loyal R.), good very fine Estimate £ 2,500-3,000 D.C.M. London Gazette 852760 Cpl. A. Tansey, born Ancoats; enlisted Manchester, 1st Batallion the Loyal Regiment (North Lancashire) 1928; 'On the 13th July Lieutenant R.C. Elstone was leading a patrol of A Company along the Jenin-Nablus road when they were held up by a road block, which was under fire from a party of about fifteen Arabs in a stone sangar on a hill 250 yards away. He immediately led his platoon up the hill at the double, and witheld fire until they had reached the top of the hill, when three Arabs were killed in the sangar and three others outside it. For this successful action he was awarde the M.C., while Corporal A. Tansey received the D.C.M. and Private J. Thomas the M.M.' Extract taken from 'Between the Wars'.
