Great Britain 1837 (6 Jan.) single sheet letter from Rowland Hill to Sir John Bowring M.P., the content, which effectively marks the beginning of the postal reform, was originally accompanied by Hill´s pamphlet “Post Office Reform” (which was published four days later on 10 January), and extols the virtues and great benefits that would follow, signed “My dear Sir, yours faithfully, Rowland Hill”. Bowring was a champion of other reforms and was referred to in Hill´s biography, by his daughter Eleanor, as a “literary friend” of her father; folds and some light toning though in no way detracting from this quintessentially important Postal History and Philatelic document.
