Great Britain 1700 (c.) entire letter used in Scotland, the address panel with ink manuscript "111" (indicating '3') but without postal markings, the letter written by James Gordon is in such 'quaint' English that it almost non-sensical, however it appears to be a request from a landowner to the local laird for permission to bring a man accused of causing a riot, in manacles, to the laird for judgement; traces of soiling, fine and most unusual. Full typed transcript included Estimate £ 50-60
