Charles I, York mint, Shilling, 5.68g., type 3, m.m. lion, bust left in scalloped lace collar with lank flowing hair, XII behind, bri fra et hib, rev., oval garnished shield, ebor below (Besly 1E; JGB 1093 (same dies); N.2318; S.2872), two old dents in second quarter of shield, edge very lightly sheared at 6 and 12 o'clock, otherwise a beautiful coin, attractively toned with light blue highlights, in mint state, very rare in this condition Estimate £ 1,000-1,200 provenance:
