[Russian Imperial]: Elizabeth Petrovna. Empress of Russia, 1741-1762. One of Russia's most popular monarchs, second eldest daughter of Peter the Great, continued her father's policies bringing about an Age of Enlightenment in Russia; modernized Russia's roads, encouraged the foundation of the University of Moscow and Imperial Academy of Arts, financed grandiose baroque projects; led Russia during the two major European conflicts of the time - the War of the Austrian Succession and the Seven Years War. Document Signed "Elizabeth during the reign of her sister Anna. One-page, handwritten decree from the Chancellery in Russian, 8 x 12 ¼", May 31, 1737: "On this date, three hundred Rubles were submitted to the office and accepted." Elizabeth signs to the right of the date below. Very Fine.
