Great Britain. George III (1760-1820). Duke of Northumberland Tenantry Column, 1816. Medal. Bronze, 41mm. Bust of Sir High Percy, 2nd Duke of Northumberland, right, rev. View of the column, the Percy lion atop. The Lion Column was erected in 1816 by Northumberland's tenant farmers in gratitude for his reduction of their rent following the end of the Napoleonic Wars with its consequent reduction of grain prices which placed them under much hardship.
