Qing Dynasty, Hsüan Tsung, Emperor Tao-Kuang (1820-1850), Rebel Issues (c. 1838-1850), Year 17 'Old Man' Liang (Tael) or "Chang Wen" Dollar, 'Little Eastern Island' Mint [Taiwan Dao ~ Kagi (?)], the god of longevity ['the old man'] staning facing, wearing robes, rev. sacrificial vase surrounded by four Manchurian characters reading 'Formosa' (above and below), "Kyahi" [for Shrine of Kagi (?)] and Hoo ['sacred treasure'], incuse security edge, 26.80g, 12h (Davenport 203; Kann 1; L/M 319), extensively chopmarked as typically encounted for series, neverthelessthe host coin handsomely lustrous with hints of residual toning around characters, the chopmarks bold and fresh and largely free from the key devices, a pleasing very fine / good very fine thus, rare and prized thus, in NGC QR holder, graded AU Details ~ Chopmarked (Cert. #6767922-001)
