Italy. The Goddess Roma-Conquest of Libya. Medal, 1911. Bronze, parcel gilt, 60mm. By Angelo Zanelli. Art nouveau portrait of the goddess Roma right, rev. Triumphal procession. Zanelli's greatest commission would come some years later when he was awarded the contract for the complete sculptural work that decorates the Vittorio Emanuele monument in Rome, which was completed in 1925. The reverse design of this medal was realized as one of the central reliefs on the monument. Extremely Fine.
