Didius Julianus, Emperor of Rome (28 March-2 June 193 AD). Medal. Uniface. Bronze, 37mm. M DITIVS IVLIANVS, Laureate head left of the emperor who shamefully purchased his throne, "20" before in a cabled field. Rouletted blank reverse. For a different piece from the same series of Roman emperors, see Artemide Aste Auction LI, April 27-28, 2019, lot 763 (Pertinax number "19"), which realized 1500 Euro. Edge chipped at 2:00. An Extremely Fine and rare contemporary cast.
