ITALIAN SCHOOL (16th Century)
Teodorina Cibo (ca. 1455-1508) and Peretta di Mari Usodimare (1478-1555). Medal from a pierced model. Bronze, 54.6mm. Bust of Teodorina Cibo, illegitimate daughter of Innocent VIII left, rev. Bust of her daughter, Peretta left. Hill 943/4. Armand notes this double portrait as two sides of the same medal, but Hill lists the portraits as two uniface examples and doubted they existed as two sides of a single medal. There is only one recorded specimen of each, although two mules of Peretta are in Naples. Extremely Fine. Ex InAsta Sale 71 (San Marino), November 16, 2017, lot 4475.
