ATTRIBUTED TO ANTONIO ABONDIO (Riva di Trento 1538-1591 Vienna)
Pair of plaquettes - locket covers. Bronze heavy gilt, 50 x 64mm. In a finely detailed landscape, a young soldier in ancient armor, armed with a quiver of arrows, standing right converses with a winged Genius, holding a bow, before him; at his feet is a dragon slain by an arrow. For a similar composition, see Spink, London January 24, 2008, lot 89. In a bucolic landscape, and armored and draped Apollo rushes right toward Daphne; town and hills in the background. Finely finished locket edges. Some minor rubs to the gilt. With wood display stand. Very Fine.
