Attica, Athens (c. 449-413 BC), AR Tetradrachm, helmeted head of Athena right, wearing crested Attic helmet decorated with three olive-leaves and palmette, rev. Owl, with closed wings, standing right with head facing, olive twig with three leaves and crescent moon, in lower right field, ATE all within partially incuse square, 17.22g, 2h (Kroll 8; SNG Copenhagen 31), several striking splits, otherwise well-centred on a chunky flan, the portrait in beautifully sharp relief, a most pleasing extremely fine, a thoroughly attractive example of this popular collectable
