CLASSE • GALL • FVG •, Britannia, armed, protects the crouching figure of Scotia from the French fleet in fight; one of their ships lying obstructed in the harbour, AD • FRETVM • EDENBVRG • XIV • MARTII • MDCCVIII in exergue in three lines, edge plain, 40mm, 23.19g, 12h (Eimer 430; MI ii 316/141; MH 1919, 139), toned, highly lustrous and reminiscently proof-like in appearance, a pleasing extremely fine, rare in this condition
