The Bernard Pearl Collection of British Historical Medals

Baldwins, by private treaty, c. 1965 - £7.10.0

One object of the medallist is to satirise Louis XIV for assuming the title of MAGNVS and scoffing at him for having been defeated by a female ruler. If he was great, Anne was greater as her arms had everywhere proved victorious over him. The medal at the same time does not omit to ascribe the success to divine power.
