FAVENTE DEO, Britannia seated on the sea-shore, reviews her fleet, BRITANNIA in exergue, CAROLVS SECVNDVS PACIS ET IMPERII RESTITVTOR AVGVSTVS upwards on edge, 76.44g, 58mm, 12h (Eimer 241; MI i, 535/186; van Loon II, 522; Pax 270; MH.65), metal flaw in obverse field to right of bust, nevertheless toned over darkened surfaces, highly lustrous and thoroughly attractive, near extremely fine and rare in this state, an historic object directly connected to the establishment of Manhattan as a British Colony
