(x) Charles I (1625-1649), Civil War Issues, 'Declaration' Unite, 1642, Royalist Oxford, • CAROLVS : D : G : MAG : BRIT : FRAN : ET : HI : REX, crowned and armoured three-quarter length bust left, holding dumpy sword and olive branch, XX behind, rev. : EXVRGAT : DEVS : DISSIPENTVR : INIMICI, three even plumes with bands above, RELIG : PROT : LEG | ANG : LIBER : PAR in two-lined scroll, 1642 below, 9.02g, 6h, no p.m. (Beresford-Jones, dies IV/3 variety; Brooker 843-845A different dies; Schneider II, 306 same obverse die; North 2386; Spink 2731), slight flan crimping, otherwise pleasing original surfaces with traces of mint lustre in legend recesses, a pleasing very fine, the dies unrecorded by Beresford-Jones and Brooker, the reverse die unknown to Schneider and without parallel on CoinArchives, presumably an extremely rare variety thus

Under close inspection it would appear the variety incorporates a repunched broader crown and a re-entered REX. The reverse die has a G over-struck in ANG.
