Bolivar, Simón [Simón José Antonio de la Santísima Trinidad Bolivar y Palacios Ponte-Andrade y Blanco] (1783-1830). El Libertador, the "Great Liberator", Venezuelan military and political leader, led the revolution against Spanish rule in the Viceroyalty of Nueva Granada bringing independence to what are the now the countries of Venezuela, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Panama; President of Gran Colombia (1819-1830), Dictator of Peru (1823-1826). Document Signed "Simon Bolivar" as President and General-in-Chief. Partially printed. One-page folio, REPÚBLICA DE COLOMBIA SIMON BOLIVAR Presidente de la República, General en Cefe del Exército Libertador, &c.&c.&c. heading, Bogotá, March 1820. Recommendation of Captain of the Infantry John Benole. Bolivar signs with his usual flourish bottom center; his aide Captain Diego Ibarra signs to the right. Partial remains of original red seal at left. Notation on verso. Some pinholes, age toning at edges, small nick bottom edge. Very Good.

Please note the addendum to the lot as this lot also contains the signature of Salom Bartolomé. He was the General who managed to defeat the last royalist stronghold in America in “El Callado” in 1826. He was a hero of the independence of Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru.
