Beckett, Samuel Barclay (1906-1989). Irish novelist, playwright, short-story writer, poet and theatre director, author of "Waiting for Godot", renowned for his idiosyncratic, tragi-comic outlook on existence and experience, key figure in the Theatre of the Absurd; 1969 Nobel Prize winner for Literature. His collection of poems Echo's Bones and other Precipitates, Europa Press 1935 Paris Signed. Beckett writes in blue pencil on the frontispage "Hilary from Sam Paris 1948".
