Texas. Republic of Texas. Consolidated Fund of Texas. $5,000 Bond Certificate. Houston, June 18, 1839. 13 x 16 1/4". Issued to James Love. Signed by Thomas Gales Forster, Acting Stock Commissioner. Authorized by a June 7th, 1837 act of Congress entitled "An act to authorize the consolidation and funding the Public Debt". With full seven coupons in left margin. Much more scarce than the Public Debt Certificates from the same period. Some paper loss as a result of a large X Cut cancel at Comptroller's line and central split caused by cancels. Thin slash into right center, and some edge chipping. Fine.
