Temple façade, short cross pattée in saltire at center, pellet in each angle; ROTOMAGVS. Richard "the Fearless" was son of William I Longsword and grandson of the Viking warlord Rollo - founder of the Duchy. His second wife, Gunnor bore him many children including his heir Richard II le Bon and Emma of Normandy. Through Emma's marriage to two of England's kings - Aethelred II "the Unsteady" and Cnut, Richard was grandfather of English kings Harthacnut and Edward the Confessor.
