Russia, Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (U.S.S.R.), Order of Service to the Homeland in the Armed Forces, 1st Class Badge, silver-gilt and enamel, mint mark to reverse and officially numbered '09', screw-back to reverse, extremely fine and of the greatest rarity

The Order of Service to the Homeland in the Armed Forces was instituted on 28 October 1974 by decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR. This made it the first military Order to be instituted since the end of the Second World War. It was awarded just 13 times in the First Class (Full Cavalier), with 589 Second Class awards and 69,567 Third Class awards made.

Major General of Internal Troops A. Verevkin was awarded the Order as a Full Cavalier on 3 January 1989.
