Elizabeth I (1558-1603), Portcullis Countermark Fourpence-Halfpenny, counterstamped on an Edward VI, Second Period, Shilling, MDXLIX [1549], Tower, on a 6oz. 2 dwt., crowned bust 3 right, rev. oval-garnished shield, 4.48g, 6h, m.m. swan (Spink 2546 [cf. 2466 for undertype]; N.1989; PAS DEV-FADD03 this coin; Comber 49), a small flan crimp at 4 o'clock and other compressions on portrait from soil deposition, otherwise toned, about very fine for issue, the countermark equally so, extremely rare, especially in this condition
