Aethelstan (924-939), Penny, Lydford, Ecglaf, +AEDELSTAN REX, crowned and draped bust right, rev. +ECLAF M'ON LYDANFORDA, small cross pattée, 1.49g, 12h (Spink 1095; N.675; John Allan [Dec. 2002] -; EMC 2020.0272 this coin), minor edge loss between 5 and 8 o'clock and on a wavy flan, otherwise toned, good very fine, and of the utmost numismatic significance for the provincial mint of Lydford being the first definitive example to pre-date Eadgar's reform (AD 973) and further back-date our knowledge of mint operations at the Anglo-Saxon burh by some half-century, UNIQUE
