Russian Icon. Madonna and Child with Shepherd. 18th-19th Century, Ukrainian. Embroidered oklad over tempera on wood. 13 ¾ x 13 ½". Mary, Mother of God, seated left, holding the Infant Christ, who holds the hand of a bearded shepherd, likely intended to represent Joseph, palm tree behind. Very colorful embroidered oklad. Unusual, charming and very well preserved.
