Sino-Tibetan Figure of Mahakala. 20th Century. Fully silvered, 7 ½" high (9 ½" including mandorla). Two-armed Mahakala, protector of the karma Kagyu school, wearing the crown of five skulls representing the five defilements, raising the Kartika (flaying knife) before a flaming mandorla, his one foot resting atop a man and the other atop a beast. Visravajra mark on base. Well-detailed and dramatic.
