Turner, Roscoe (1895-1970). Three-time Thompson Trophy winner, record-breaking American aviator known for his waxed moustache, flamboyant style and his pet, Gilmore the Lion. Ca. 1930s 8 x 10 of him in extravagant coat (Foto-Ad, Detroit) with other gentleman, profile of him in uniform, 10 x 8 of him before racing plane (Wolfer Printing Co), 3 ½ x 5 5/8 of Turner with actor Noah Berry, Jr. during filming of the 1939 film "Flight at Midnight" (in which Turner starred as himself); 7 x 5 of Turner celebrating with Thompson Trophy and trophy cup, also cropped 4 ¾ x 4 ½ of same, 7 x 5 of him before his "Pesco Special 29"; and a 1941 stapled group of 3 - Turner flashing his toothy smile 5 1/3 x 6 ¾ and 8 x 10; and 6 1/8 x 8 ¾ of him looking out a window. Some with mounting residue on back and/or notations, positioning marks, light creases at corners. [10]
