Pioneer of women's aviation, first woman to break the sound barrier - May 18, 1953; wartime head of the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP) - 1943-1944; awarded DSM, DFC; one of the most prominent racing pilots of her generation, setting numerous records. Group of 15 Photos. Ca.
