Gatling, Richard Jordan (1818-1903). American inventor best known for his invention of the Gatling gun. Typed Letter Signed "R.J. Gatling" as President of the Gatling Gun Co. One page, on lined Gatling Gun Co. letterhead, Hartford CT, April 23, 1885. Writing to Colt's Patented Fire Arms Manufacturing Co., Gatling asks them to "Please send the gun carriage &c, belonging to the State of Connecticut, to the State Arsenal as soon as possible, as they wish to send it to Bridgeport. Gatling signs below in large bold hand. Pencil notation at bottom "Will be delivered today". Light pressmarks at top. About Very Fine.
