Fraser, James Earle (1876-1953). Noted American sculptor whose work is integral to many of Washington D.C.'s most iconic structures; to numismatists he is best known for designing the Buffalo Nickel and for his work with Augustus Saint-Gaudens. Letter Signed "J.E. Fraser". One page, typed on his letterhead, Jan. 28, 1920, mounted on to the back of a framed photograph of Fraser's bust of Colonel Teddy Roosevelt. Fraser writes to Mrs. Henry D. Prescott telling her she will receive the photograph of the bust and that it is regarded by the Roosevelt family and his personal friends as the best likeness of him ever done. He apologizes for a bas relief of Dr. Swift whose model the Gorham Co. broke. Some press lines and darkening of paper. Fine. Ex Sotheby's Arcade Auction.
