Great Britain. 1899 Pattern Cavalry Trooper's Sword. Guard with WWI reissue mark of the First Search Light Company, Royal Engineers; leather grip. Single fullered, 32 1/3" blade, 1899 proof marks on flat back edge; various marks at ricasso. No scabbard. A scarce sword used for only a short period of time, because of various design problems such as the long grip which caused the user's hand to slip up and down especially when sweaty, and a thin guard. A Very Fine example of this model.
