Guatemalan Folkloric Diablo (Devil) Statue. Carved Wood and polychrome. Mid-20th Century. 19" high, 10" base width. Bust of a red, horned and black-bearded devil set on a rectangular base. Likely used in conjunction with la quema del Diablo ("The Burning of the Devil") or the Baile de los 24 Diablos ("Dance of the 24 devils"). Natural wood split. Small scuff to back of head.
