Texas. Treasury Warrant, $5, Act of 1863 (Nov 23, 1864). CR. 14. Civil Service. No. 33896. Blue-green highlights. Paid to N.G. Shelley (Nathan George). Attorney, legislator and CSA officer, Shelley, after his term as Texas attorney general, served briefly in the Confederate Army of Tennessee under General Joseph E. Johnston in the Georgia campaign. Returning to Texas, he was commissioned Brigadier General of the state troops. He swore the oath of amnesty at Georgetown, November 1, 1865. Uncirculated.
