Great Britain. A Crimea Period c.1855 French Officer's Gorget, the gilt-brass base with a silver insignia affixed in the centre, illustrating a left-facing cockerel, its right foot on a cannonball inscribed "FRANCE", its left foot on a flagpole, crossed French flags on flagpoles below, inscribed "LIBERTE" on the left flag and "ORDRE PUBLIC" on the right, the junction of both flagpoles passing through a laurel wreath, holes at either end of the gorget for neck suspension, independent chamois liner on the underside, 55.5 mm x 129 mm, gilding a little rubbed thus very fine
