"The Mayor, Aldermen & Commonality of the city of Albany..." surrounds the denomination. Ornate borders. These small change notes were a substitute for the inadequate supply of circulating copper coins. They typically are found in worn condition. Rarely encountered, they are not priced in Newman, "Extremely Rare" in Friedberg.
