France. Ministry of the Colonies Medal of Merit, silver-gilt, the reverse embossed 'Garcia Pires de Carvalho Albuquerque Honneur et Devouement', good very fine and scarce.
Garcia Dias Pires de Carvalho Albuquerque was born at Salvador, Bahia, Brazil on 20 September 1840, son of the 1st Viscount de Torre de Garcia de Avila. He served as Senator to the Government and later as Secretary of the Government of Baia, and died at Rio de Janeiro on 15 May 1917.
