Lion rampant left, (eagle) MONETA FLAND', outer border of leaves in panels. B.2230, DeMey 151, Gaill 201v. Louis fell at the Battle of Crécy in 1346 in which the longbow helped bring a decisive English victory over the French heavy knightly cavalry; hence he is often known as Louis de Crécy.
